Welcome to NUBS Plastics, Inc.
Mold making is an integral part of the plastic injection molding process. We have an in-house mold manufacturing facility that we take great pride in. This helps us serve as a one-stop solution for your project.
We also have relationships with some elite tool makers overseas. This enables us to provide a high-quality, cost-effective alternative to the high cost of molds built in the USA.
Request a QuoteA properly designed mold is crucial for smooth production and high quality parts. If the mold is not designed properly, the final product will never come out as intended. Plastic mold making is the foundation of everything that follows, not just another step in production.
At NUBS Plastics, the focus stays on building molds that actually work in real production. The team looks at part design, material flow, cooling, and long-term use. Small details matter here. A slight change in the mold can improve output, reduce waste, and save time later.
As a plastic mold maker, the goal is simple. Build molds that last, run smoothly, and produce consistent parts without constant repair.
Plastic injection mold making follows a clear process. Each step builds on the last. Skipping details here usually leads to problems later.

Steel or aluminum is chosen based on the project. High-volume production and projects utilizing abrasive materials such as PC or glass filled compounds usually necessitate stronger steel molds.
The mold is cut and shaped using CNC machines. The cavities and cores are made using both CNC milling and EDM machining. Once cutting is complete the cores and cavities are polished to achieve the desired surface finish.
All mold components are put together. This includes cores, cavities, ejection and support plates.
Once finished, the mold is tested and sample parts are made. Adjustments are made if needed.
Once approved, the mold is used for regular production runs.
Choosing a reputable company for plastic injection mold making is not just about cost. It’s about how the mold performs after delivery.
At NUBS Plastics, the focus stays on long-term results. Our team does not cut corners. Design checks, flow analysis, and testing are taken seriously. This reduces potential for issues during production.
Communication is key. Clients are made aware of any potential issues during the plastic mold making design process.
Our many years of experience allow us to know what works and what doesn't.
Material choice affects everything. Strength, finish, durability, and even cost depend on it.
In plastic injection molding, both the mold material and the plastic used for parts require attention.
Steel molds last longer. They handle pressure better. Aluminum molds are faster to make but wear out sooner.
On the plastic side, different materials behave differently during molding.
Each material flows differently inside the mold. Cooling time also changes. That’s why a plastic mold maker must plan the mold based on the material being used.
A mismatch here can cause defects like warping or shrinkage. Getting this right saves time and cost later.
Whether you need help with the application process or anything else in between, our professionals are ready to assist you.
High-quality molds typically take 8-104–8 weeks to produce, depending on design complexity and precision requirements.
With proper maintenance, injection molds can last hundreds of thousands of cycles, ensuring smooth operation and long-term reliability.
Most molds take around 4 to 8 weeks. The time depends on the design complexity and the precision requirements. Simple molds are quicker. Detailed molds take longer.
